Sabzevar - Persian and oriental rug guide

SABZEVAR

Sabzevar is a city in the Khorasan district in north-eastern Iran; rugs made in roughly 200 villages in the area are collected and sold in the bazaar. The workmanship of Sabzevar rugs is similar to that of the rugs made in nearby Mashad, the motifs are floral embellished with medallions with large pendants. The colours are very bright with red and blue as the dominant shades; the sizes are big and start from 300X200 cm.
