Anjellas - Persian and oriental rug guide

ANJELLAS

Anjellas is a village located south of Hamadan. Its people are proud and reserved. In addition to the fine weaving, these rugs owe their beauty to the excellent quality wool and pleasing colours, which in the antique rugs, are predominantly a pinkish red obtained from madder, alongside of blue and azure. The pattern frequently comprises four small corner-pieces, with the background in a colour that contrasts with the field. The pattern is continuous with all-over: herati or botteh miri.. The border pattern is usually herati, and only in a few cases can we see shekari borders.
