Darjazin - Persian and oriental rug guide

Darjazin is actually a vast agglomerate of over 170 villages in the Hamadan region. The rugs made in this area are usually small, or runners and they do not have a high density of knots per square meter. Usually they have a floral, medallion pattern in red and blue, or full-field floral motifs similar to the "American" Sarough rugs. In the past the rugs had geometric patterns and were distinguished by their fineness with respect to others made in the Hamadan region. Today, the Darjazin rugs are very sturdy, with a deep pile; they are made of excellent quality wool with a lovely shine.
