Hosseynabad - Persian and oriental rug guide

HOSSEYNABAD

Hosseynabad, situated southwest of Malayer, has linked its name to rugs made in many other towns in the district. The salient feature that is common to this grouping is the use of minute, full-field herati motifs. The background is usually a beautiful bright red that contrasts pleasantly with the broad white band of the main border that is decorated with shekari patterns. Like most rugs from the Hamadan region, the knot density of Hosseynabad rugs is limited, while the wool is of excellent quality.
