Indogabbeh - Persian and oriental rug guide

INDOGABBEH

Indian Gabbeh or Indogabbeh rugs are recent products born in the wake of the success obtain by the Persian Gabbehs starting in the late 1980s. The rugs are made entirely of wool with a rather high pile, with very modern designs. Initially, the Indogabbeh replicated the more ethnic Persian Gabbeh patterns, but gradually, due to demand from the western markets they have become more and more modern, to the point that today they are created by western designers, and have definitively distanced themselves from Oriental traditions. There are several qualities from the most economical to good levels of knotting in the more refined and costly items.
