TEHERAN

Teheran is the capital of Iran. Currently the city does not produce many rugs, it is more important from the commercial standpoint since its bazaar is one of the main places for trading and exporting these items. The most interesting Teheran rugs date from the 19th century, they are finely made and if in good condition can fetch very high prices. The decorations are floral, but influenced by elements typical of other cities such as Kerman, Isfahan, Tabriz or Kashan. There are also many prayer rugs with highly realistic tree of life patterns. There are also Teheran rugs made entirely of silk.
