ZANJAN

Zanjan is the main city of the territory of the same name. It is located in a green and fertile area with many villages inhabited by nomadic tribes. The rugs made here are very similar to those from nearby Hamadan. Usually their sizes are smaller, mainly Sejadeh , and are decorated with simple geometric designs with central medallions. More or less simplified herati  motifs are also common. The colours are bright and are offset by black backgrounds. These are reasonably priced sturdy rugs and, above all, they are genuine: often they are made in the artisans' homes are not influenced by the demands or trends of foreign markets.
